PITTSBURGH (September 2024) - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is proud to announce the promotion of Josh Emberg to Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Emberg leads business operations and collaborates with firm executive leadership to ensure responsiveness to evolving client demands and competitive pressures within the legal industry. He previously served as the firm’s Director of Administration.

“Josh’s experience at the firm executing on operational strategies made him an ideal candidate for COO,” said Jim Newell, Chairman & CEO of Buchanan. “Josh will continue to lead the firm in initiatives that support our long-term success, commitment to excellent client service and adoption of state-of-the-art innovation.”

During his tenure at Buchanan, Emberg has managed the firm’s real estate portfolio, facilities management, outsourced services contracts, research services, competitive intelligence, business continuity preparedness, and data analytics. He has significant experience in practice management, directing the day-to-day operations for the firm’s Labor & Employment, Intellectual Property and Healthcare sections. His responsibilities as a section director included driving revenue and profitability growth through strategic business planning, financial management, capacity and workflow optimization, matter pricing, compensation analysis and lateral recruiting. He also contributed to business development, marketing, knowledge management and legal project management efforts.

Emberg began his career at a full-service civil engineering firm in Central Pennsylvania, where he supported business development initiatives for their Transportation, Land Development, and Environmental service groups.
