Zoning board approves South Side apartment project that challenged IPOD - Pittsburgh Business Times
Shawn Gallagher, Shareholder in Buchanan's Energy section, is mentioned in the Pittsburgh Business Times article "Zoning Board Approves South Side Apartment Project That Challenged IPOD." Shawn represented Columbus, Ohio-based Edwards Communities Development Corp. in its pursuit to build an apartment complex in Pittsburgh's South Side, on an industrial site along the riverfront. Edwards requested an exception for residential use in an urban industrial district and challenged building size limits. The Pittsburgh Zoning Board of Adjustments granted two exceptions and a variance in a first override of a provision of temporary riverfront zoning standards recently established by Mayor Bill Peduto. Edwards won approval to build the complex. The project will seek approval from the Pittsburgh Planning Commission.
Shawn Gallagher, a lawyer for Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC who represented Edwards in the zoning approval, was pleased with the decision, noting that the site is one of a number of blocks on the South Side that grow wider as they extend from East Carson Street to the riverfront.
