Zeiss Team Obtains Attorney's Fees, Treble Damages and Injunction Against Patent Infringer
Ruling on post-trial motions after a March 2012 jury verdict found Carl Zeiss Vision International GMBH’s progressive eyeglass lens patent valid and willfully infringed by Signet Armorlite Inc., the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California has issued a permanent injunction against infringer Signet. The Court held that Signet is permanently enjoined from making, selling or distributing its infringing progressive Kodak Unique lenses in the United States and that Signet shall remove and recall all Kodak Unique lenses from the marketplace. The Court has also awarded treble damages, the maximum allowed under the law, and granted Zeiss’ motion for its attorneys’ fees. Sam Braver and Lloyd Smith were at trial, and Sam Miller supported post trial briefing.
