Valerie Hayes is Counsel in Buchanan’s Washington, D.C. Office. She focuses her practice on patent issues related to electronic, electrical and mechanical disciplines, including client counseling, the drafting of patent applications and the prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications. She has successfully presented cases on appeal before the USPTO’s Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), as well as actively participated in Ex Parte and Inter Partes Reviews, and Patent Reissues. Prior to practicing law, Valerie served in the United States Air Force as an Officer and electrical engineer. While in the Air Force, her assignments included performing target development analysis and designing communication systems related to counterintelligence and counter-terrorism, as well as the supervision and management of the activities of over 800 Air Force personnel.
