Thomas Bergstrom Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers
PHILADELPHIA (Nov. 18, 2022) - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is proud to announce that Thomas Bergstrom, of counsel in the firm’s white collar defense practice, has received a lifetime achievement award from the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Presented during the 2022 White Collar Practice Seminar, Bergstrom is the first to receive the recognition.

Bergstrom has defended hundreds of businesses, professionals and individuals in all stages of state and federal government enforcement proceedings. He has substantial experience in internal investigations, antitrust, securities, tax, fraud and environmental criminal cases. He regularly represents medical, legal and accounting professionals as well as public figures in high profile criminal investigations, trials and appeals.
Over the years, Bergstrom’s cases have included everything from tax and bank fraud, labor and racketeering to murder and drugs. He represented John du Pont in the Delaware County murder prosecution and Deborah McIntyre in the Thomas Capano prosecution in Delaware.
Buchanan’s white-collar defense group includes seasoned criminal trial lawyers, former state and federal prosecutors, former SEC officials, and former law enforcement professionals that are highly skilled and experienced in constructing compliance programs, conducting internal investigations, and defending clients against criminal allegations. Since 2021, the firm has added the following lawyers to the team: Jason Bologna, a Philadelphia shareholder and former federal prosecutor; George Karavetsos, Miami shareholder and former director of FDA’s Office of Criminal Investigations; and Allison Borgatti, counsel in Philadelphia and former Assistant District Attorney with the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office. The team in Philadelphia has also been bolstered by the 2022 promotion of Mark Kasten to counsel.
