Tax Attorney Stuart Lewis Named Chair of the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation
Washington, D.C., August 4, 2009 — Stuart M. Lewis, shareholder in the Tax Section of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's D.C. office, has been selected to chair the American Bar Association's Section of Taxation, the nation's largest organization of tax lawyers.
Lewis becomes chair today, at the close of the ABA's Annual Meeting in Chicago. He will serve a one-year term.
Lewis previously served in several leadership positions within the Section of Taxation, including as chair of its membership and marketing, and employee benefits committees; vice chair of the government relations committee; and as a member of the section's council. He is a fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel and the American Bar Foundation and a charter fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.

Lewis co-chairs Buchanan's ERISA Litigation, Executive Compensation and Nonprofit Organizations Practice groups. He advises both large and small companies (domestic and foreign) on qualified and nonqualified retirement plans, 403(b) plans, stock options IRAs, life insurance, fiduciary and governance issues, and a variety of related issues.
