How Shayne Helps Clients

As an associate in the firm’s intellectual property (IP) practice group, Shayne helps prosecute patent applications through the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office; assists in the defense of clients’ intellectual property through litigation; and evaluates relevant court decisions, statutes, regulations and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office guidelines to improve strategies for patent prosecution and litigation.

She has experience drafting provisional patent applications based on inventor materials and related studies; analyzing Office Actions in U.S. and foreign patent applications relating to claim rejections under 35 U.S.C. § 102, § 103, § 112, and obviousness-type double patenting; and updating case law supporting legal principles for use in opinion letters.

What Clients Can Expect

Shayne grew up in Honolulu, Hawaii, which imparted an ingrained habit of living every day with aloha. Despite its many definitions, aloha, at its core, stands for guiding principles that inspire mutual respect and encourage constructive collaboration in pursuit of a common goal.

Shayne brings this mindset to the workplace, allowing her to work closely with clients, inventors, and other professionals who have varying functional expertise, all in a concerted team effort to achieve a shared purpose—protecting clients’ intellectual property.

Outside the Office

When not working, Shayne enjoys traveling, hiking, hosting movie watch parties with family and friends, and trying out new brunch spots. Shayne also enjoys spending time on the tennis court (or more likely, watching tennis tournaments).
