Shareholder Mitchell I. Horowitz Named Co-chair of Buchanan’s Tax Practice Group
TAMPA, Fla. – August 11, 2015 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is pleased to announce that Tampa-based Shareholder Mitchell I. Horowitz has been named co-chair of Buchanan’s Tax Practice Group. Horowitz joins Shareholder Bruce I. Booken in leading the practice group’s strategic initiatives and the more than 40 practicing tax attorneys across the firm’s 19 offices.
Horowitz focuses his practice in the area of civil tax controversies with the Internal Revenue Service and Florida Department of Revenue, including U. S. Tax Court, federal district court and state court litigation, and transactional and business law representation. He represents individuals, tax-exempt entities and business organizations, and has experience handling audit and collection matters and performing annual tax maintenance audits for businesses and tax-exempt entities.
He has garnered an AV® Preeminent certification from Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review Ratings, the highest available mark for professional excellence. He has been named to both the The Best Lawyers in America® and Florida Super Lawyers lists consecutively since 2006. He has also been recognized as a leading tax lawyer in Florida by Chambers USA.
He earned his Master of Laws degree in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law, his law degree from Duke University School of Law and his bachelor’s degree in accounting from State University of New York at Binghamton.
