Rosemary Corsetti Receives The Benemerenti Medal
PITTSBURGH (August 14, 2023) - Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is pleased to announce that Rosemary Corsetti has received the Benemerenti Medal (Medal) from The Roman Catholic Church. The Medal is one of the highest papal honors bestowed upon members of the laity. “Benemerenti” translates as “to a well-deserving person,” and the Medal recognizes friends of the Church who have exhibited faithful service to their families and community, as well as exceptional service to the Church. Corsetti was nominated for the award by Bishop David Zubik of the Diocese of Pittsburgh for her longstanding volunteer legal service to the diocese. Her nomination was then approved by Pope Francis.
Corsetti was invested with the Medal on Sunday, August 13, 2023 during a mass in observance of the 180th anniversary of the Diocese of Pittsburgh. The Medal is the second time that Corsetti has received papal honors. She previously received papal recognition by being named a Dame of the Order of St. Gregory the Great, with the title of Lady Rosemary.
Corsetti is steadfast in her commitment to service to civic and charitable organizations. In recognition of her service, she has also received the Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal, the St. Thomas More Award, the Seton Hill University Distinguished Alumna Leadership Award, among others.
Corsetti serves as Of Counsel in Buchanan’s healthcare section and her practice focuses on for profit and not-for-profit national health care systems, as well as religious congregations and their incorporated apostolates, social service organizations, long-term care facilities, colleges, universities, high schools and day care centers.
