Pennsylvania Supreme Court Appoints Buchanan CEO Jack Barbour to Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security
Created in 1982, the fund reimburses victims of attorney dishonesty in the practice of law, preserves the integrity of the legal profession and promotes public confidence in the legal and administrative justice system. Receiving all of its financial resources from the members of the Pennsylvania Bar through a mandatory annual assessment, the fund is managed by a seven-member volunteer board comprising five lawyer members and two non-lawyers.
Practicing law for more than 35 years, Barbour concentrates his practice on real estate development and financing, complex commercial transactions and counseling high-net-worth family businesses. He has represented developers, lenders and equity participants in a wide range of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions across the United States over the past several decades.
Recently appointed as Chairman of the Board of the United Way of Allegheny County, Barbour has also served on the boards of many civic and philanthropic organizations. He is a member of the board of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, was appointed by former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett as Chair of his Advisory Council on Privatization and Innovation and is a member of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. A Life Trustee to the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, Barbour also served as Chairman of the Board of the Carnegie Museum of Natural History for 10 years.
Barbour is a graduate of Davidson College and Vanderbilt Law School.
