A dual Israeli-U.S. citizen is now free to pursue opportunities to compete for the United States Figure Skating Association after the New Jersey Superior Court, Bergen County issued summary judgment on September 2, directing the Israel Ice Skating Federation to immediately grant her a written release from the Federation. Andrea Davidovich, represented by Buchanan’s Barry Slotnick, Stuart Slotnick, Christopher Dalton, Tanya Bosi, Elizabeth Klaproth and Kathleen Murphy, competed for Israel at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and hopes to skate for Team USA at the 2018 Games in South Korea.

At the oral argument, Stuart Slotnick impressed upon the Judge that without the Superior Court’s assistance, the client’s career was on death row, as she would soon be too old to complete competitively. Without the release, which was denied by the Israeli Federation, the client would have been unable to pursue her career as a figure skater and skate on behalf of any other team.

“She is really ecstatic,” Slotnick told the New York Post.
