Moving the Goalpost on Nurse Staffing Requirements - Health Care Compliance Association

On September 23, Alexis Langella, shareholder in the Litigation section and Heather Alleva, associate in the Healthcare section, presented "Moving the Goalpost on Nurse Staffing Requirements" to the Health Care Compliance Association. The presentation aimed at in-house counsel, compliance officers, risk management, attorneys, operations/administration responsible for staffing, focused on the following learning objectives:

• Gain an in-depth understanding of Payroll-Based Journal Data and how it is utilized by government enforcement agencies and in patient care cases
• Learn about Plaintiff’s staffing theories and attempts to assign a higher staffing level based on acuity or the CMS “expected staffing” model in LTC centers
• Develop strategies to combat Plaintiff’s attempts at heightened nurse staffing theories
