Michael Hall Discusses Trenton, N.J.’s Paid Sick Leave Ordinance with Law360
Law360 recently published an article discussing Trenton, New Jersey’s paid sick leave ordinance – an ordinance that nine towns in N.J. have passed, requiring employers to provide paid sick time to workers. Law360 noted that the New Jersey Business & Industry Association and five other employer-side organizations are hoping for a preliminary injunction.
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Shareholder Michael D. Hall spoke with the publication, stating: “Winning a preliminary injunction will be no easy task but the law's impact on employers operating across multiple towns could be a compelling argument as the groups try to show irreparable harm and a reasonable probability of success on the merits.”
He suggested that the local laws in Trenton and elsewhere represent a ‘patchwork’ approach and a compliance nightmare. “It is going to be a very, very difficult, a huge burden on small businesses to comply with this,” he continued.
