Leslie Gromis Baker Explains How Pennsylvania’s Budget Impasse is Impacting Government Relations Work
The Legal Intelligencer recently quoted Leslie Gromis Baker, co-chair and managing director of Buchanan’s state and government relations practice, in an article about Pennsylvania’s budget impasse and how it is affecting government relations professionals in the state. While some professionals expressed frustration at the impasse, Baker noted that Buchanan’s government relations practice has remained steady or even increased during the budget stalemate. She noted that several of the firm’s clients’ regulatory concerns are not tied to the budget or are more local in nature, rather than statewide.
“We can't impact when a budget will get done, but what we can do is we can make sure our clients are positioned once the budget does start moving,” Baker adds, explaining that Buchanan’s goal is to keep clients’ concerns before the General Assembly even if they won’t get immediate attention due to the budget impasse.
