How Jia Helps Clients 

Jia Zhao is an associate in Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s Labor, Employment, Benefits & Immigration section. With a concentration on business immigration and compliance, she helps multinational and midsized corporate clients and start-ups achieve global workforce mobility in the finance, architecture, real estate, consulting, healthcare, entertainment and hospitality industries.

Jia counsels clients on many aspects of corporate U.S. immigration, including all major employment-based nonimmigrant and immigrant matters and regulatory compliance. She has experience handling a broad range of corporate immigration matters, focusing on EB-1, L-1, O-1, H-1B, E-3, E-2 and TN. Additionally, Jia assists clients with adjustment of status, consular processing, naturalization, and family-based petitions. Dedicating a portion of her practice to EB-5 investor matters, she has extensive experience representing investors in all three stages of the EB-5 process and aids regional centers in preparing I-924 Regional Center Designation applications. 

Before joining Buchanan, Jia was an associate at a large, international Am Law 100 firm, where her practice focused on business immigration and EB-5 investor visas. During law school, Jia was a member of the Immigrant Rights Clinic, successfully representing and counseling clients on deportation relief. She interned with Samsung Heavy Industries in Seoul, South Korea, where she assisted the legal team on issues relating to anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws and reviewed shipbuilding and offshore contracts.

Outside the Office 

Outside the office, Jia is an avid sports fan. She loves watching the NY Knicks and the U.S. Open and World Cup, occasionally live. She also enjoys golf and skiing. As a food enthusiast, she is always eager to try new restaurants or different cuisines.
