Howard D. Scher, Buchanan Shareholder, Elected to Serve as Officer of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers
PHILADELPHIA – April 8, 2016 – Howard D. Scher, a shareholder in Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s litigation practice, has been named an officer of the prestigious, peer-selected, invitation-only International Academy of Trial Lawyers (IATL) at the organization’s annual meeting. Scher, a member of IATL since 1999, will serve as secretary of international relations for a one-year term. In this position, Scher will be responsible for promoting the expansion of the international component of the IATL by identifying trial lawyers outside the United States whose ability, skill, character and integrity qualify them for membership.

The IATL limits fellowship to 500 active trial lawyers. Membership is extended to trial lawyers only on an invitation basis after an extremely careful and rigorous vetting process. The organization’s purpose is to promote reforms in the law as well as the rule of law internationally, facilitate the administration of justice and elevate the standards of integrity, honor and courtesy in the legal profession.
