How Erin Helps Clients
As an associate in Buchanan’s Intellectual Property Section, Erin’s practice focuses on a variety of patent and trademark matters. Prior to joining the firm full time, Erin was a member of Buchanan’s 2021 Summer Associate Program where she utilized her research and writing skills to analyze a variety of intellectual property issues, including developing patent prosecution strategies. Erin has experience with litigation strategy, drafting motions and analyzing infringement contentions. She also has experience in drafting and prosecuting mechanical patent applications.
On the trademark side, she has worked with clients in a variety of industries including pharmaceuticals and therapeutics, guiding them through the procurement and enforcement process. She has drafted responses to non-final office actions, drafted notices of opposition, counseled clients on protection strategies and conducted research regarding a trademark holder’s rights in anticipation of litigation.
During her time at University of Pittsburgh School of Law, Erin served as a Student Law Clerk at the International Trade Commission’s Office of Unfair Import Investigations where she assisted attorneys in investigating and litigating alleged intellectual property infringement and other unfair practices in import trade in violation of 19 U.S.C. § 1337. She also served as a Judicial Intern for the Honorable J. Nicholas Ranjan of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was a member the University of Pittsburgh Law Review, where she served as the Executive Editor at Large for the Online Edition.

Outside the Office
When not working, Erin enjoys traveling, exploring new cultures, trying new foods, and experimenting with new recipes in her kitchen. She also enjoys spending time on the golf course and hopes to become an avid pickleball player in the future.
