E-Verify Explained: What Every U.S. Employer Needs to Know
Starting September 8, 2009, the much-delayed "E-Verify" federal regulation will finally go into effect and will require certain federal contractors and subcontractors to use the Department of Homeland Security's electronic employment eligibility verification system, E-Verify, to verify the employment eligibility of their workforces.
The new regulation will have serious implications for millions of employers throughout the United States. Many states have already passed legislation requiring their state agencies, state contractors, and/or private employers to use the E-Verify program, and with strong congressional support, it is expected that use of the program is here to stay.
Now, more than ever, it's critical that U.S. employers become familiar with the E-Verify program. Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is excited to serve as your guide. Please join us on August 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. for our Web Seminar "E-Verify Explained: What Every U.S. Employer Needs to Know," where we'll provide you with an in-depth review of the E-Verify program and the new federal contractor requirements.
