DC's FDA Group and Federal Government Relations Group Present to Women in Government Relations

On April 20, 2016, members of the DC office’s FDA group and Federal Government Relations (FGR) hosted a group of health policy professionals from the organization, Women in Government Relations (WGR). Barbara Binzak Blumenfeld, Tina Hu-Rodgers, and Liz Westbrook, spoke to the group about the FDA: its basic structure, mission, and jurisdiction, as well as current hot topics implicating or impacting the Agency.

Barbara and Tina covered legal topics and spoke broadly about the work they do, while Liz explained how she and the FGR team advocate on behalf of BIR’s FDA clients in front of Congress. Among the topics covered were the generic drug application backlog, drug pricing increases, biosimilars, and compounding.

Approximately twenty members of WGR attended and attendees were very engaged and interested in the topical subject-matter. Barbara, Tina, and Liz received positive feedback – both directly and in the form of a very engaged audience with lots of great questions.
