Buchanan’s New BreachCoach® Portal Educates Companies About Cybersecurity Risks and Offers Prevention and Recovery Tools
PITTSBURGH – November 14, 2016 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney’s cybersecurity and data protection group announces the launch of the Buchanan BreachCoach®, a free one-stop portal designed to help companies find the latest cybersecurity information and updates and manage their response in case of a data breach. The portal offers crucial resources including, an incident response checklist, real-time news, risk management calculators, security response training, white papers and webinars.
“Just this year we have seen a number of high-profile data breaches, not to mention the number of small and mid-size companies whose cyber-attacks did not get reported by the media, but still with great consequences,” noted Matthew H. Meade, chair of Buchanan’s cybersecurity and data protection practice. “Staying one step ahead of the hackers is one of the biggest challenges for cybersecurity professionals and companies alike. The Buchanan BreachCoach® provides critical information that can help companies minimize risk, respond appropriately in case of an attack and safeguard their reputation and bottom line.”
Cybersecurity experts agree that the biggest threats to companies come from malicious attacks through malware and social engineering, from their own employees and third-party vendors. The average cost of a data breach is now $4 million, according to the "2016 Cost of a Data Breach Study: Global Analysis" from IBM and Ponemon Institute.
“Although there are a number of varying factors that contribute to the overall cost of a company’s data breach, we are offering a Data Breach Cost Calculator on the home page of the portal so that companies can calculate their costs using their specific information. We think this will really drive home the importance of a proactive approach for users,” added Meade.
The Data Breach Cost Calculator uses several scenario questions to help the user determine how much a data breach could potentially cost their company and is available to anyone visiting the Buchanan BreachCoach® portal.
