ALEXANDRIA, Va. – October 18, 2018 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney adds Andrew R. Cheslock as counsel to the firm’s Patent Office Litigation Practice. Cheslock focuses his practice on inter partes reviews on behalf of both petitioners and patent owners before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB), patent litigation, International Trade Commission investigations and counseling clients in the electronics and software industries.
“Andrew brings a wealth of experience in patent office litigation, intellectual property litigation and International Trade Commission matters – areas of great importance to our U.S. and international clients,” said Todd R. Walters, chair of the firm’s Patent Office Litigation practice and co-chair of the Intellectual Property section. “We are pleased to add Andrew to our already deep bench at a time when PTAB litigation filings exceed filings in all other forums.”
“Buchanan’s experience and expertise in PTAB litigation made joining the firm a natural fit,” said Cheslock. “I am eager to integrate with the team and continue the firm’s presence in the increasingly popular dispute resolution forum of the PTAB."
Cheslock’s technical background includes familiarity and practical engineering experience with operating systems, compilers and programming languages, embedded systems, microprocessors, logic devices, database management systems and network security. His practice has involved a variety of software, electrical and mechanical technologies, including database integration software, wireless network standards, encryption technology, medical devices, microprocessors/system on chip components and semiconductor packaging.
Cheslock received his J.D. from the University of Florida Frederic G. Levin College of Law, where he was managing editor of the Florida Law Review. He also holds a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering.
