An article in the Observer-Reporter noted that a Washington County judge ruled on Monday, May 12, that Range Resources is now approved to place well pads in Robinson Township because township officials delayed their decision and denied separate applications over whether to permit Marcellus Shale drilling on two properties for a longer period than municipal planning code allows. Range’s well pads were first planned for placement nearly two years ago.

A Buchanan team, including Shareholders Shawn N. Gallagher and Brian H. Simmons and Associate Megan E. Smith, represented Range Resources in the matter.

“The Court can find no authority for the position that the municipality could extend the statutory time limit merely by scheduling an additional day or days of hearings without the agreement of the applicant,” Judge John DiSalle wrote in the opinion. “The additional days of hearings were scheduled on the Board’s own motion, and not at the request of the Plaintiff or an objecting party.”
