Buchanan Presents "Meaningful Use Requirements and Electronic Health Records"
Oct 28 2010
3:30 PM
Buchanan's Pittsbugh Office, One Oxford Centre, Pittsburgh, PA
Join us for a complimentary seminar and networking reception, "Meaningful Use Requirements and Electronic Health Records," on Thursday, October 28, 2010. The discussion will take place from 3:30-5:30 p.m., followed by a cocktail reception from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology recently released final regulations pursuant to the HITECH Act that define the "meaningful use" and certification requirements eligible hospitals and physicians must meet in order to receive electronic health record (EHR) incentive payments and avoid Medicare payment penalties. As a result, health care systems will be seeking opportunities to implement technology systems which meet these requirements and health care IT vendors will be actively seeking such licensing opportunities. While Congress may tweak the final rule in the coming months, CMS and the Department of Health and Human Services are working to implement the certification and meaningful use requirements as currently reflected in the final rule.
Please join Buchanan's David Gurwin and Pamela Hepp as they discuss how to comply with these rules under the requirements of HIPAA/HITECH/ARRA, how to navigate Stark and Anti-kickback law requirements for the provision of EHR to physicians, the criteria for qualifying for Medicare/Medicaid incentives and how to most effectively negotiate the license, support and related agreements with the healthcare IT vendors.
This event qualifies for 2 hours of CLE in Pennsylvania and will take place at the Pittsburgh offices of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, located at One Oxford Centre, 301 Grant Street, 20th Floor, Pittsburgh, PA 15219. Videoconferencing will be available in the following offices:
