JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – August 7, 2017 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announces the addition of Patricia Dodson as of counsel in the firm’s Jacksonville office. Dodson brings more than 25 years of civil and criminal trial, government law and corporate counsel experience to the firm’s labor and employment and litigation clients.

Dodson is former Assistant State Attorney and managing director of the State Attorney’s Office in Florida’s 4th Judicial Circuit. Her civil litigation practice spans labor and employment law, federal diversity actions, commercial and contract law, probate law, civil rights violations, insurance disputes, professional regulation and credentialing, medical malpractice and more. She has tried more than 70 jury trials to verdict and many bench trials throughout her career.

Dodson serves as vice chair of the Florida Bar Code and Rules Committee, and co-chair of the Jacksonville Bar Association Corporate and In-house Counsel Committee. Dodson has been selected to serve on the Merit Selection Panel for U.S. Magistrate Judge and the Indigent Services Advisory Committees. She received the Women Lawyer of the Year Award in 2011 from the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association. She is a Master in the Chester Bedell American Inn of Court, has been a federal court-appointed pro bono lawyer, a member of the Jacksonville Women’s Network’s legal section, a member of the Women’s Giving Alliance and teaches civics to children with educational and learning disabilities through the Florida Bar Justice Teaching program. She is dedicated to serving her community by providing pro bono legal counsel to various organizations, coordinating fundraising walks and mentoring young attorneys. Dodson received her J.D. from Nova University Law School and her B.A. in political science from the University of North Florida. Dodson will continue to serve as general counsel and director of research at K9s for Warriors, a nonprofit that connects service dogs to military veterans.
