Buchanan Immigration Attorney Yova Borovska Quoted in Society for Human Resource Management on Modernizing the Nation’s Legal Immigration System

In a recent article published by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney Immigration attorney Yova Borovska discusses the top concerns for employers when it comes to modernizing the nation’s legal immigration system. Titled “Inconsistency, Burdensome Paperwork Plague Visa Processing,” the article reports that modernizing this system is one of the President Barack Obama’s top priorities.

“Consistency is a very big issue currently. More so with consulates and embassies than with USCIS [U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services],” Borovska told SHRM Online regarding what the top concerns are for employers. “Each consulate or embassy has its own requirements and procedures for most types of visas. Sometimes, the difference in procedure is justified; for example, because of unique country conditions or issues relating to police certificates, medical exams, etc.” she said.

Also helping to improve processing would be “better communication between Homeland Security’s USCIS [U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services] and the DOS [Department of State],” Borovska told the publication.
