Buchanan Appoints New Leadership for Litigation, Tax and Financial Services Sections
PITTSBURGH – May 11, 2018 – Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney announces new leadership appointments for the Litigation and Tax sections, and Financial Services which includes the Banking & Finance, Bankruptcy and Real Estate practices.
David L. Gordon, will take over Litigation co-chair duties from Craig D. Mills, executive shareholder, and work alongside current co-chair Gretchen L. Jankowski. Gordon focuses his practice on professional liability, specifically as it relates to defending long-term care facilities and physicians, nurses and hospitals in professional malpractice actions. Other areas of experience include premises liability, products liability and subrogation. David also serves as co-chair of the Post-Acute & Long-Term Care practice group and head of the Princeton office.
Lisa M. Starczewski will join Bruce I. Booken, Tax section chair, as co-chair. Starczewski focuses her practice on several areas of transactional tax law. She works closely with pass-throughs, corporate and real estate clients in structuring business transactions, drafting tax provisions, and solving complex tax issues and is the principal client relationship manager and team leader for one of the firm’s largest institutional clients. Starczewski serves as chair of the BloombergBNA Advisory Board on Passthrough Entity Taxation
Hugh G. Van der Veer will chair the Financial Services section, which includes the Banking & Finance, Bankruptcy and Real Estate practices, taking over from Rebecca Lando, a member of the firm’s Board of Directors. Van der Veer is one of the co-founders of the firm's Security Alarm group and the co-founder of the Barnes Buchanan Conference, an invitation-only conference for parties who want to buy, sell, lend, borrow or invest in the security alarm industry. In addition to general corporate advice, he has been primarily involved in structuring and closing more than 400 business transactions.
