From the Tech Council:
- Representing more than 200 members, the Marcellus Shale Coalition was formed in 2008 to promote the responsible development of natural gas from the Marcellus shale geological formation. As evidence of the economic development impact of the industry on Pennsylvania’s employment sector, a report from the PA Department of Labor Industry, detailed more than 72,000 new hires in the Marcellus Shale and its ancillary industries during an 18 month period between late 2009 and early 2011.
During the same time period, and in recent weeks, major multi-national leaders in the world’s oil and gas industry have expanded their operations in Pennsylvania, with most establishing their primary offices here in the Pittsburgh region.
In her presentation, Klaber will discuss the industry's future, policy developments coming out of Harrisburg and the potential for the region to leverage the shale gas industry.
