How April Helps Clients

April uses her 18 years of paralegal experience to provide administrative and management support to Buchanan’s Intellectual Property section, which includes work on the investigation, pleading, discovery, pre-trial, trial, settlement, and appeal phases of litigation. Her work includes handling highly-sensitive materials that require confidentiality and discretion; conducting legal research; drafting settlement agreements and releases; and creating and maintaining pleadings indexes. When a case goes to trial, April plays an integral role by coordinating trial team details, setting up the war rooms, coordinating court reporters and videographers for depositions, preparing trial binders, acquiring equipment, and transporting and setting up files and exhibits in the courtroom.

What Clients Can Expect

April is proficient in patent litigation, patent prosecution, and docketing. She has extensive IP experience that includes Intellectual Trade Commission filings and electronic filings with the Patent and Trademark Office. She also has strong communication skills that she uses to serve as a liaison between clients, witnesses, experts, vendors and the trial team, as well as assist with witness preparation.

Outside the Office

Outside of the office, April enjoys spending quality time with her family. She also helps to run the food bank at her church and has participated in the Lawyers Have Heart Run.
