Anne E. Kozul concentrates her legal practice in the area of employment litigation, focusing on employee recruitment and raiding disputes. In addition, Anne has experience litigating cases involving Equal Employment Opportunity laws, wage and hour laws and common law employment claims such as breach of contract. Anne also has experience in environmental matters.
Anne has litigated numerous cases involving the enforcement and defense of restrictive covenant agreements, the protection of trade secrets and competitively sensitive business information, breach of employees' fiduciary duties, unfair competition and violation of various federal and state statutes prohibiting the misuse of employers' confidential information. Anne has represented clients in various industries before federal and state courts, FINRA and JAMS arbitration.
Anne assisted in defending a financial services firm in a long running series of high-profile cases arising within the financial services industry, involving multiple employee departures related to the acquisition of a prior employer, which involved multi-million dollar claims of “raiding,” unfair competition and misappropriation of trade secrets.
In addition, Anne was part of a team of attorneys that obtained an arbitration award for $6 million in compensatory damages, plus punitive damages and attorneys' fees on behalf of a financial services firm based on claims for misappropriation of a trade secret customer list.
Anne's practice also includes drafting and negotiating employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and confidentiality agreements, as well as counseling companies and individuals employment transition issues, such as the recruitment and departures of employees, and protection of trade secrets.
Anne’s environmental experience includes work on various environmental litigation and investigation matters, including defense of CERCLA actions in New Jersey and Maryland. In addition, Anne has experience with environmental regulatory counseling in Pennsylvania.
While attending law school, Anne served as research assistant to Associate Dean John Y. Gotanda, where she researched cases, arbitral awards, statues, rules and economic and legal commentary regarding the awarding of interest in contract disputes in countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and North America. In addition, Anne completed a judicial externship for Judge Juan R. Sanchez of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
