May 29 2008
Ivan J. Punchatz and Caroline Jacobsen Berdzik will speak at this annual meeting of the New Jersey Association of Homes and Services for the Aging. Punchatz and Berdzik are based in the Princeton office of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, where they are members of the firm's Health Care Section and Labor and Employment Law Section, respectively.
Punchatz and Berdzik's session, which will be held on Wednesday, May 28, is titled "Preventing, Investigating and Successfully Defending Against Whistleblowing Claims by Healthcare Employees." This presentation will provide employers with timely information on how to prevent, investigate and defend against whistleblowing claims asserted under New Jersey's Conscientious Employee Protection Act, and other laws in the health care setting. Participants will hear why health care employers are more vulnerable to these types of allegations and what can be done to help employers avoid these types of difficult and expensive claims. There will be a comprehensive review of the ever developing case law in this area, as well as practical tips on how to handle whistleblowing claims at various stages.
The meeting will take place on May 27 - 29, 2008, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. For more information, visit the website of the New Jersey Association of Homes and Services for the Aging at www.njanpha.org.
