Heritage, Leadership, and Justice: A Latina City Solicitor's Story
In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Buchanan’s Jason Bologna sat down for a conversation with Diana Cortes, City Solicitor and Chief Legal Officer for the City of Philadelphia. The two will discussed Cortes' trailblazing journey as a lawyer working in private practice to making history as the City of Philadelphia’s first-ever Latina City Solicitor.
While Hispanics account for more than 18% of the United States population, just 5.8% of our nation’s lawyers identify as Hispanic, and only 3% of General Counsels at Fortune 500 companies identify as Hispanic. During this program, Bologna and Cortes delved into the reasons behind this drastic gap and explore how the legal industry can become more accessible and inclusive to Hispanic professionals looking to embark on a legal career.
