Charles F. Wieland III, a shareholder in the Intellectual Property practice at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney's Alexandria office, was named to Nanotechnology Law & Business journal's Top Ten list. The list was published in the journal's Summer 2008 edition. Nanotechnology Law & Business (NLB) is a peer reviewed journal devoted to the legal, business and policy aspects of small-scale technologies.

According to NLB, the Top Ten list "highlight[s] ten of the most influential IP lawyers in nanotechnology…. The lawyers were selected based on factors such as number of patents prosecuted, types of clients and general involvement in the nanotech community."

It was noted that Wieland has drafted and/or prosecuted more than 2,200 patents and patent applications. The list also notes Wieland's extensive practice at Buchanan, as well as discusses the four years he spent working at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
